Studies on Histone Hydrolase in Liver and Kidney on Growing Stages of Rat and in Regenerating Adult Rat Liver

Abstract
Activities or histone hydrolase on liver and kidney on growing stages of rat and in regenerating adult rat liver have been measured. The result are as follows:
1. A pattern of histone hydrolase activities in liver homogenate was observed. Activity increased on 4th and 7th days and after that gradually decreased. In kidney, activity increased until 22nd and 40th days and after that peak activity gradually decreased. Histone hydrolase activity in kidney was higher than liver.
2. Histone hydrolase was distributed in most of the subcellular fractions, but highest in microsome.
3. Histone hydrolase was specific for histone but albumin and globulin were resistant.
4. Optimal pH of histone hydrolase was between 8 and 9.
5. In the microsome or regenerating liver, histone hydrolase activity was highest one day after hepatectomy, higher than normal,, and gradually decreased, until 14 days after hepatectomy, at which time it was lower than the control. In cytosol, histone hydrolase activity was lowest one day of ter hepatectomy, lower than the control, and gradually increased until 14 days after hepatectomy, similar with the control.
